The Calcutta quartet which calls itself Skinny Alley by day and turns into Pinknoise by night were formed in 2006 with the idea of writing, what they call, sophisticated improvised rock. The band has since morphed into a search for stories in energy, language, space and consciousness. Currently finishing its debut studio album, The Dance Of The Diaspora, the band’s music falls somewhere between lullaby and rap, between temple dance and machine beat, between elephant god and grimy thug, between back then and tomorrow. The band suffered the loss of their bassist Gyan Singh in 2012, but he still lives on at the low-end in spirit and samples. |
