After a Masters degree in cultural management and an M.Phil in social anthropology, Aruna Adiceam joined the cultural wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France in 1997, initially as part of the European project team. In 2001, she was designated head of the cultural season's office.
Between 2001-2004, she organized with her team the main cultural seasons of different countries in France as also internationally. Thus, within this framework, she coordinated the years of China in France and France in China, the Brazilian year, the Algerian year in France etc. From 2007 to 2010, she was appointed Cultural Attache in Thailand where she steered the hugely successful Festival of France during her 3 years' tenure. She returned to Paris and at the age of 33 was appointed director for development and partnerships at Culturesfrance (today called Institut Francais). Here she was instrumental in implementing several major cultural programs around the globe such as the artist residency programs, the Russian year in France, international agreements between French local authorities.
In 2009, she coordinated for Culturesfrance the first edition of Bonjour India, the festival of France in India. Back to New Delhi, her place of birth, Aruna Adiceam was appointed Cultural Attache of the French Embassy in India in September 2010. |
