Born in 1978, Sameer Uddin began learning tabla formally at the age of 10, going on to win a Centre for Cultural Research and Training award at age 12. In 1996 he joined the band Prithvi; in 1997 he played bass for metal outfit Every Mother's Nightmare, and resurrected Prithvi in 1998 with an aim to write Indipop.
In 1999 he began composing music for advertisements in Delhi, moving to Mumbai in 2002 to continue his work in the field. In 2004, his first feature-film score for Yahaan was nominated for Best Score at the Zee Cine Awards, and in 2006 he was credited as composer for the film Bluffmaster.
He has music for over 2000 commercials under his belt, as well as several film scores for movies suchas Yahaan, Bluffmaster, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Just Married and more. |
