Deepti Unni is a journalist and former deputy editor of Rolling Stone India. She has been writing about the Indian music scene for the better part of a decade, starting out as a freelancer with youth magazines JLT and JAM, editing the Resurrection Zine and writing for Rock Street Journal. After a brief stint with travel writing, she joined Rolling Stone in 2008, and while she covered music across various genres, she has been particularly passionate about metal. Deepti has extensively written about metal music, both Indian and international and was instrumental in bringing out Rolling Stone’s much-anticipated metal issue every year. She was also part of the core team that initiated Rolling Stone Metal Awards, India’s first and only awards in the genre, that is now in its third year.
Deepti is currently working on a highly secret one-stop resource project for metal bands in the country while continuing to freelance with Rolling Stone. When she’s not writing she’s hard at work on her other passion, adding obscure places to her travel bucketlist. |
